Do we all need a thing?

Do I need a thing?

Lots of people have a thing..
He’s got his golf. Lots of people have sports or crafts and they enjoy a thing..
I love yoga but it’s not my thing..
I am starting to enjoy the gym but it’s not my thing.
I live walking the pupster but again it’s not a thing!
I love to write but I’m not sure it’s a thing yet…
I don’t have a thing.
I’ve tried baking… It went down well, but it’s not my thing.

I never thought I’d be that girl…

My mummy told me years ago to find a class, but then we never do what our mums tell us do we??

I worked hard – too hard, stressed out of my box was my standard. I thought it was just the norm, my norm.

My role models were high achievers – and they didn’t seem stressed.

So I tried a few…. I’ve tried so many classes and always knew I should circle back to yoga.

I’ve tried so many.

I’ve tried it hot.

I’ve tried chanting it.

I’ve tried Bikram.

I’ve tried Ashtanga.

I’ve tried Kundalini – still makes me giggle when I say it!

Thank you to my friend Sarah who told me to find a thing and encouraged me to go with her. Thank you to my BFF friend Fran who went with my to my first yoga retreat in Cornwall three years ago.

She did all the classes, I did a few and spent the rest of the time chilling and reading and walking on the beach. She loved it so much she decided to train as a yogi teacher.

So I did it every day for a while with her on zoom, but I know I love in person so much more.

My mind still wanders…

But I know when I do practice I am better.

I think I’d go every day if I could…
I never thought I’d be that girl who can’t wait until the next yoga class  – the added bonus is I get the retail therapy as well at Sweaty Betty!

I’m not sure I have found my thing yet, does there have to be one “thing” for everyone. I know Marie Forleo talks about being multi passionate – or is that just an excuse to want to do a little of everything and not choose one thing to excel at, and keep fingers in all the pies?

So, do we need a “thing” do we need “one thing” or is it ok to be multi passionate about a number of “things?”
